Steve grew up in a northern Virginia town outside of Washington, D.C. called Herndon. He went to the College of William Mary for his undergraduate degree in biology and then spent two years working in various and exciting places. These include: interning in a DNA forensics lab in Lorton, Virginia, living in an intentional community in Tucson, AZ while doing emergency home repairs for low income residents, interning at an environmental agency in D.C., and living on an organic farm. These experiences made for a smooth transition to a graduate program in Environmental Studies here at Penn. When Steve isn’t saving the natural world he can be found running, eating cookies, staring at birds, hanging out with Stoufferites, or any combination of the four.
