For this week's faculty roundtables, Dr. Jamiella Brooks will speak about her work with language and discourse.

Jamiella Brooks is the Associate Director for the Center for Teaching and Learning, focusing on inclusive and equitable teaching programs. She earned her Ph.D. in French Literature from University of California, Davis, a B.A. in English from Oberlin College, was a Mellon-Mays Fellow, McNair Scholar, and served as Fulbright Teaching Assistant in France. Her teaching and research interests include sociolinguistics, language and power, discourse analysis, and anticolonial pedagogies, and she has presented on codeswitching and linguistic equity. She is the author of several articles on navigating college, including "Talking with Students About Race," "Tackling the Academy: Practical Advice for Navigating the Culture," and "Dissertating While Parenting: Not a Contradiction."
