TIP: Prof Kathy Brown (GSWS & History)

What:

Join us for the final Tuesday's Interesting Person of the semester with Professor Kathy Brown.  She's a mover and shaker on campus who is the David Boies Professor of History, advises the Penn Slavery Project and is the new Director of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies and the Alice Paul Center.  Her amazingly titled books - Good wives, nasty wenches, and anxious patriarchs: Gender, race, and power in Colonial Virginia (1996) and Foul bodies: Cleanliness in early America (2009) -- have won awards and showcase her interdisciplinary work around the body, race, sex, health, and slavery. Kathy has also balanced having a family and a career as well as the politics of identity and hot topics in academia. She truly is fascinating and funny to boot. So come ready to ask questions and have a good time.
